  7. Material rationaleinstead of economic rationale • Whereas money has a virtually endless capacity to move, add, and renew itself • Material is situated in time and space, needing energy to move and getting old • CE assumes that one builds aperfect match of the two

  8. Silences of the Circular Economy • Where are dispersion and space? • Where are frictions? • Where is energy? • Where are spills? • Where is the need for growth of new inputs? • Where is power?

  9. Nothing is circular before it has been re-somethingCircularity is a bet on the futureAnd how many laps are we speaking of?

  10. An incantation? A magic expression that draws on the mystical signification of the circle to protect material welfare and the environment, but also material-and-energy-intensive business models and political promise of endless growth. But that ignores the material rationales of time, space, and energy.
