  1. Caleb

  2. Communication From God Jos 14:6-15  Then the sons of Judah drew near to Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, "You know the word which the LORD spoke to Moses the man of God concerning you and me in Kadesh-barnea.

  3. The word in Caleb’s heart — What God said… v. 6b ‘the word which the Lord spoke’ v. 10 ‘the Lord spoke’ v. 12 ‘the Lord spoke’ v. 12b ‘the Lord has spoken’

  4. Conviction about God 7  "I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land, and I brought word back to him as it was in my heart.

  5. The content of Caleb’s heart — different Num 14:24  "But My servant Caleb, because he has had a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land which he entered, and his descendants shall take possession of it.

  6. Commitment to God  8  "Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt with fear; but I followed the LORD my God fully.

  7. The integrity of Caleb’s heart — undivided Jos 14:8  ’…I followed the LORD my God fully.’ Jos 14:9  ’…you have followed the LORD my God fully.' Jos 14:14  ’…he followed the LORD God of Israel fully.’

  8. The integrity of Caleb’s heart — undivided Num 14:24  "But My servant Caleb, because he has had a different spirit and has followed Me fully, … Num 32:12  except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have followed the LORD fully.’ Deu 1:36  except Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him and to his sons I will give the land on which he has set foot, because he has followed the LORD fully.'

  9. Php 3:13  Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,

  10. Confidence in God 9  "So Moses swore on that day, saying, 'Surely the land on which your foot has trodden will be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have followed the LORD my God fully.'  10  "Now behold, the LORD has let me live, just as He spoke, these forty-five years, …

  11. The stability of Caleb’s heart — unshaken Psa 16:8  I have set the LORD continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

  12. Consistency for God 10  "Now behold, the LORD has let me live, just as He spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that the LORD spoke this word to Moses, when Israel walked in the wilderness; and now behold, I am eighty-five years old today.  11  "I am still as strong today as I was in the day Moses sent me; as my strength was then, so my strength is now, for war and for going out and coming in.

  13. The hope in Caleb’s heart — deferred & fulfilled Pro 13:12  Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But desire fulfilled is a tree of life.

  14. Conquering through God 12  "Now then, give me this hill country about which the LORD spoke on that day, for you heard on that day that Anakim were there, with great fortified cities; perhaps the LORD will be with me, and I will drive them out as the LORD has spoken."  13  So Joshua blessed him and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.

  15. The possession of Caleb’s heart — Hebron Jos 15:13 Now he gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh a portion among the sons of Judah, according to the command of the LORD to Joshua, namely, Kiriath-arba, Arba being the father of Anak (that is, Hebron).  14  Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak: Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, the children of Anak.

  16. The possession of Caleb’s heart — Hebron Num 13:22 (KJV)  And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

  17. The possession of Caleb’s heart — Hebron Num 13:22 (KJV)  And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.) YOUR INHERITANCE HAS TO BE IN YOU BEFORE YOU CAN BE IN IT.

  18. Channels for God 15  Then he went up from there against the inhabitants of Debir; now the name of Debir formerly was Kiriath-sepher.  16  And Caleb said, "The one who attacks Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give him Achsah my daughter as a wife."  17  Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, captured it; so he gave him Achsah his daughter as a wife.

  19. The children after Caleb’s heart — Othniel &Achsah Jdg 3:9  When the sons of Israel cried to the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer for the sons of Israel to deliver them, Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.

  20. 18  It came about that when she came to him, she persuaded him to ask her father for a field. So she alighted from the donkey, and Caleb said to her, "What do you want?"  19  Then she said, "Give me a blessing; since you have given me the land of the Negev, give me also springs of water." So he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

  21. 1 John 5:4-5 Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.

  22. Isa 50:7  For the Lord GOD helps Me, Therefore, I am not disgraced; Therefore, I have set My face like flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed.
