  22. Terms of the Application Process • Rolling Admissions • Colleges begin sending acceptance letters on a periodic basis beginning in Sept - May • Early Decision • usually a binding agreement. Deposit required within 2 weeks of decision. • Early Action • Apply early risk a small financial lose with choosing another school. • Wait Listed • Placed on a waiting list for fall or spring semester admissions. Notified late as to admission status. • Deferred Admissions • Allows student to spend a year in another activity, such as working or traveling, before beginning college.

  28. Financial Aid Overview • Set Up FAFSA Account (ID & Password) • Complete FAFSA (after October 1st) • Student finances and parent finances • Dept. Ed independent (Marriage or age 24) • Fafsa is the college basis for institutional $$ • Uses Prior Prior Year or Completed return • SAR (Student Aid Report) • EFC (Expected Family Contribution) • March 1st –deadline for state aid.

NCAA New Guidelines Division I only -- 16 core courses Transcripts must present 16 core courses in the following breakdown: 4 years of English                           3 years of mathematics (Algebra I or higher)                           2 years of natural/physical science (one must be a lab science)                           1 year of additional English, math or science                           2 years of social studies                           4 years of additional core courses (from any area listed above, or from foreign language, nondoctrinal religion or philosophy)
