  2. Goals • Demonstrate Project Tools • Project Insight Overview • Help Project Facilitators in project development and facilitation • Promote the use of Project Insight throughout HL7 Project Insight Overview

Progress To Date • Conducted Project Insight Overview classes at each WGM since September, 2007 • Worked with Co-Chairs to pilot Project Insight • Updated the Project Approval Process and Project Scope Statement Template • Added projects dating back to 2005 into Project Insight; Co-Chairs validated their Work Group’s projects • HL7 Project List published on GForge via the TSC Files tab Project Insight Overview

Project Facilitators Two types: Work Group and Steering Division • Work Group: • Function as project’s point person • Complete/update project documents: PSS, CBC, NIB • Secure approvals by WG, SD, TSC • Update/maintain Project Insight project plan • Steering Division: • Manage their SD’s project portfolio • Liaison between SD and PMO • Mentor WG Project Facilitators • Assist SD Chairs with address projects in jeopardy Project Insight Overview

Project Approval Process • Project Facilitator creates a Project Scope Statement (PSS). • Sponsoring Group reviews and approves the Project Scope Statement. • The Project Facilitator emails the PSS to the appropriate Steering Division(s) and the HL7 Project Management Office (pmo@hl7.org). • PMO reviews the Scope Statement (this occurs simultaneously with step 5). • The appropriate Steering Division reviews and approves the PSS Project Insight Overview

  45. Project Approval Process (cont’d) 6. The Steering Division submits Scope Statement to TSC for approval by creating an issue for the TSC on GForge and attaching the PSS to the issue. 7. The PMO audits the PSS approval process and enters approval dates in Project Insight. 8. The PMO and Project Services Committee ensure that HL7 project methodology is adhered to. The approval process is also located in Appendix B in the Project Scope Statement Template Project Insight Overview
