  2. Letter from Commissioner Jordan The District’s current economic environment is marked by significant population growth, limited affordable housing, and increasing commercial development. These factors create market opportunities that a forward looking community can use to attract the residents they want as neighbors and build the community families want for their children. Within the proximity of our Single Member District 7B06 the Skyland Shopping center and Department of Homeland Security are scheduled to arrive within the several years. We can leverage these opportunities to attract people coming to the area for shopping and work by offering a unique set of amenities that separate our community from all other housing options in the D.C. area. The purpose of the programs and initiatives we have slated for this summer and the upcoming year are designed to help our neighborhood flourish. Please come out to the upcoming SMD meetings, your input is always appreciated.
