Essay Question continued… • The appearance of “the stranger” (as you will later read in the book, is Victor Frankenstein) leads to the unfolding of the entire story of the creation of a monster that Frankenstein is about. Victor Frankenstein, as the creator of said monster, is the protagonist. Essay Question continued… • With his appearance, Walton’s need of a courageous friend, to share his thoughts and feelings, is fulfilled, since Walton wanted a friend to share his passion and ambition in exploring the Pole with. After Frankenstein recovers from his dreadful state, he and Walton gradually becomes closer – the finding a brother delights Walton.
