What is an authentic material • Nunan and Miller (1995) define authentic materials as those which were not created or edited expressly for language learners. Why use authentic materials • Students may anticipate being able to communicate and interact in this new language. • Authentic materials can make individual lessons more interesting or salient. • Exposing students to authentic materials can also help them better understand the target culture and envision how they might participate in this community.
