  2. The Objective • To have a happier community of people living on the banks of the canal • To have a more hygienic and beautiful Buckingham Canal

The Idea • We don’t want to end up as a short-lived initiative by a few to clean up a canal as against being a well thought out initiative to sustainably modify it for the better using rigorous methods • We feel that it’s important that the people who are the main beneficiaries of this initiative must also be the main movers of it • We come in by providing the engineering and technical know-how and plan to motivate communities to take up the issue • Any success will be a great victory for these people as they can show what can be done by them if they set themselves to it. It will empower them

The two parts Engineering Social Engineering Research about the communities and people living around the canal Identification of Strategy to sustainably motivate them Introduction of the solution to them Implementation of the solution Very Challenging • Will require research of the current situation and future plans • Then, solutions must be proposed and evaluated • Our solution must not be expensive and also something that involves the local communities • After that, a solution is picked • Very Challenging

  5. Disclaimer • The Engineering solution is not ready and the methods to implement it are very challenging • But we are audacious enough to at least give it a try
