This award program is intended to • recognize faculty initiatives and serve • as seed money to encourage the • development of new study abroad • programs. • The funding will help you travel to the • country/region and lay the groundwork • for your study abroad program in the • region.
All full-time faculty members are eligible for this program. • At least three to four awards from our college will be selected. • Maximum funding for a proposal is $3,000. • Priority will be given to proposals which give students in our college the richest cultural experience.
Deadline: 5:00 PM on Monday, 02/16/09 • Announcement of the award recipients • will be made by Friday, March 6, 2009. • The proposed trip should be completed • by the May-June 2009 period since • funding is only through June 30, 2009.

Global Engagement Certificate A major part of GLCC has been in the development of KSU’s Global Education Certification. The info on this certificate is posted online at http://www.kennesaw.edu/globalengagement/
Two Levels • Global engagement certificate • Global engagement certificate with distinction There are 6-7 criteria for either certificate
GLOBAL COURSEWORK • Global Learning courses for certification purposes are courses that contain at least a 30% global content. • A list of approved courses is posted online.
GLOBAL COURSEWORK • (Level 1) For undergraduates, at least 12 semester hours required (6 for graduate students). • (Level 2) For undergraduates, at least 24 semester hours required (12 for graduate students) .
EDUCATION ABROAD • (Level 1) At least 4 weeks of acceptable education abroad are required (can be cumulative across multiple short-term experiences) • (Level 2 ) At least 8 weeks of acceptable education abroad are required
FOREIGN LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY • (Level 1) At least a beginner's/novice level of oral proficiency in one foreign language • (Level 2) At the "high intermediate" or greater level in one foreign language
