4. EXAMPLES OF SUBJECT RELATED TOPICS Some of the assignments provide candidates with the opportunity to incorporate ICT related work carried out in other subjects, for example, in GCSE:
Art and Design, candidates could scan and manipulate original images and incorporate these into a multimedia presentation of their coursework (Assignment A1);
Business Studies, candidates could interrogate a database or search the Internet or CD-ROM to research and analyse market research data on the potential customer base for a particular product or service. They could then produce a word processed report incorporating appropriate graphs or charts (Assignment A2);
5. CONT: English, candidates could use an ICT application within their coursework, for example, they could word process an article which “attempts to persuade people to take ‘green’ issues more seriously” and incorporate it within a booklet (Assignment A2);
English Literature, candidates could use ICT to produce a booklet based on a personal and critical response to short stories written before 1900 (Assignment A2);
Geography, candidates could, following field work enquiry, produce a word processed report incorporating the use of relevant data, graphs, maps and diagrams (Assignment A2);
History, candidates could search the Internet to research contemporary accounts of issues and events related to their coursework assignment and refine and present their findings in an appropriate format (Assignment B1);
6. CONT: Music, candidates could design a multimedia presentation on the different musical traditions in Northern Ireland (Assignment A1);
Religious Studies, candidates could design a website to show links with information providers within and across religions (Assignment A3);
Technology and Design, candidates could use ICT to produce a booklet which promotes the use of a product that they have designed as part of their coursework (Assignment A2);
