State INCOME for 2001-2 • State • 2001-2 General Operating Fund ($6.58 million) • salaries for tenure track faculty and some support staff (02-03 GOF = $6.45 million) • + • 2001-2Local Fund Authority($464,536) • permanent central staff & Dean’s salaries ($379,356) • temporary equipment monies ($85,180) • (02-03 LFA = $372,345)

Non-State INCOME Grants & Contracts ($21,767,817 – 100 different awards last year) Indirects 0 to 52% Recaptures (salary buyouts) .75 to dept .25 to central Indirects (RCR funds) – 30% of indirects are returned to School first cut - research office & RIFP second cut - set aside emergency fund third cut - information services (partial funding) fourth cut - 1/3 shared equally amongst all 3 depts 2/3 distributed based on each dept’s grants

So, Why are we so busy? • Budget Cuts – State has cut us 6% since 1998 – and - will cut2% more this year – we have not cut operations – in fact, it has gone WAYYYY up.. • We used to teach our masters pathways in 38 - 45 credits. We pretty much have the same number of state funded faculty now as we did then – and less staff. • Our typical ARNP masters pathway requires around 70 credits – some up to 92. • Students pay tuition for 10 or 12 credits per quarter – anything above that is free to the student (6 quarters X 10 credits = 60 credits).

We will not dodge issues of fiscal or social responsibility. 3. We will continue to add new nurses to the workforce 4. We will continue to educate nurses for advance practice, clinical leadership, and knowledge development 5. We will continue to offer the PhD as our doctoral degree.
