  2. Pleuvoir des cordes (To literally rain ropes)…To rain Cats & Dogs. Ex: Je ne peux pas conduire, il pleut des cordes! • Entre chien et loup (Literally means between a dog and a wolf)This expression describes dusk or twilight. EX: Je vais vous répondre entre chien et loup.

  3. Devenir chèvre- (Literally to become a goat)--means to become extremely angry or enraged. EX: Je vais devenir chèvre sije le vois. • Dans son assiette or Ne pas être dans son assiette- (Literally means to be (or not be) in one's own plate).Dans son assiette means to feel at home or very comfortable. Ne pas être dans son assiette means that one is feeling under the weather or not quite oneself. EX: Je suis dans mon assiette chez toi!Je suis désolé mais je ne suis pas dans mon assiette aujourd'hui.

  4. Coup de foudre-(Literally means a bolt or flash of lightening). Love at first sight. EX: Lorsque je l'ai rencontré c'était le coup de foudre. • Avoir le cafard- (Literally translates as to have the beetle). Avoir le cafard has the connotation that you are so bored you are depressed or lack all manner of morale.History: This expression is thought to come from French speaking Algeria. It is said that the French foreign legion, while in confinement, suffered such extreme boredom that they took to shooting beetles. EX: Je ne peux pas terminer, j'ai tellement le cafard!

  5. Avoir un faim de loup- (Literally means to have the hunger of a wolf. It means to be extremely hungry. Ex: Je peux manger tout cela ici, j'ai un faim de loup! • Appeler un chat un chat – (Literally translates as to call a cat, a cat. To call a spade a spade or to speak your mind or to speak the truth. Ex: Vous pouvez compter sur ce qu'il dit; il appelle toujours un chat un chat
