About the Lamps About the Lamps • Run on solar power • Are guaranteed for two years and have five-year lifetime • Each lamp costs $11
Who receives them? Who receives them? • Solar study lamps are provided to students in Primary 6 who do not have electricity, so they can study at night • Students receive the lamps during a critical year - before they take the national exams • Students “pay” for the lamps through community service to the school & their community
Partner SchoolsWhy? Why? • Typically students have to study by candlelight or kerosene lamps, which are very expensive and unsafe • If students pass the national exams, they will have the opportunity to go on to secondary school - which will provide them, their family & community a brighter future!
