In science, vocabulary words often have long complex definitions. It not that scientist want to make every one feel stupid. It’s because an official definition must be one that retains it’s meaning when translated. For example if I translate: pour some rubbing alcohol on that cut I got : pour some alcohol in that court
Here is another example from a book: An engineer is explains what he thinks will happen if they turn on the machine: “Systems will overload causing failure of the cooling systems, resulting in catastrophic failure.” The protagonists turns to the Marine and asks what he thinks will happen. “things will break and everything will blow up”
