Things to know if you want to form a Battle team: . You must have parent or guardian permission to participate Pick team members who will make your team strong READ THE BOOKS!!!
You and your team will read these books for the first Battle: Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech Hatchet by Gary Paulsen Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau
THINGS TO KNOW WHEN COMPETING IN THE BATTLE OF THE BOOKS 1. You must know the entire name of the book You must know the author’s name Questions are random. You never know what book the questions will come from! 4. You’re a TEAM. You can discuss your answer before giving it to the judges 5. Practice! Google your book titles and you’ll find questions to ask each other. 6. Each member should read every book!
ONCE THE FIRST BATTLE HAS TAKEN PLACE, YOU CANNOT CHANGE TEAMS!! IF A TEAMMATE IS SICK ON THE BATTLE DAY, YOU MUST CONTINUE WITHOUT THEM TO BE A MEMBER OF BATTLE OF THE BOOKS, YOU MUST KEEP UP WITH YOUR SCHOOL WORK AND MAINTAIN A POSITIVE ATTITUDE WHILE IN SCHOOL. DISCIPLINE ISSUES MAY CAUSE YOUR DISMISSAL FROM THE COMPETITON. Rules & Procedures
PHASE 1: THERE ARE 4 -5 QUESTIONS. THEY BEGIN WITH….IN WHAT BOOK …..? YOU MUST GIVE THE CORRECT FULL TITLE NAME FOR 5 POINTS, AND THE AUTHOR’S LAST NAME FOR 3 BONUS POINTS. PHASE II: 3 QUESTIONS BEGIN WITH IN THE BOOK -----” YOU WILL HAVE TO GIVE A SPECIFIC ANSWER. 10 POINTS FOR CORRECT ANSWER. Day of Battle Rules
