MIAMI, FL - The latter part of last week saw a correction in the record-breaking gold price. The correction was hardly unanticipated; when a precious metal soars to dizzy heights as gold did last week there will always be a short-term correction. This does not mean that gold has peaked or is about to go into freefall - on the contrary. A correction of this type is normal and actually presents a perfect buying opportunity. Many investors are wary of buying when prices are at record highs, even when all indicators suggest that they will go still higher. Many have been waiting for just such a dip to buy and it would not be unusual to see a great deal of investment buying before the price shoots skyward again. Gold tends to move inversely with stocks so a recovery in stocks will generally be accompanied by a slight drop in the price of gold. As the dust settles in the stock market following last week's hysteria, it is likely that stocks will rally further and gold may see a corresponding drop. At present gold is holding firm around $1750; it would need to drop considerably lower than that if it were to indicate a new direction for the gold market. At the same time, prudent investors will take advantage of the lightly lower price to add to their gold bullion holdings.
