Set in the poverty-stricken Hill District in the mid 1980's the play is thought of the most tragic of Wilson's cycle as it focuses on the downfall of the prideful ex-con protagonist, King Hedley II. The cast includes Roderick Slocum, Meryl Lyn Brown, Nastassja Baset, Damien J. Wallace, Eric Carter, and Maurice A. Tucker. Producing Artistic Director Joseph M. Paprzycki states, "South Camden Theatre Company is proud to produce our second August Wilson play on our stage in Waterfront South Theatre. KING HEDLEY II is led by director and SCTC favorite Connie Norwood who is bringing a seasoned and talented cast to enliven the words of our greatest African-American playwright."
