Living a Heavenly Life on Earth Heeding Heavenly Words • Jesus communicated to us from heaven (John 1:18; 3:12-13; 12:29; Heb. 1:2) • The apostles spoke a heavenly message (John 16:12-15; 1 Pet. 1:12; 1 Cor. 2:13; 14:37) • A heavenly life is directed by heavenly words (Col. 3:17; Heb. 12:25; 2:1)

Living a Heavenly Life on Earth Communicating with Heaven • Jesus regularly communicated with heaven (Luke 3:21; 5:16; 22:17-19; Jn. 6:11; 17) • We are to be like this “heavenly Man” (1 Corinthians 15:48) • As our High Priest, Jesus enables us to communicate with heaven (Heb.9:25; 7:25; 4:14-16; Rev. 5:8; 8:3-4) Let us continue “steadfastly in prayer.” (Rom 12:12)

Living a Heavenly Life on Earth Heavenly Citizenship • Matthew’s gospel reveals much about the kingdom of heaven. • It was “at hand” in Jesus’ day (3:2; 4:17; 10:7) • It is synonymous with the church (16:18-19; Acts 2) • Citizenship requires repentance (3:2; 4:17; 18:3) • One must do the will of the Father (7:21) • Citizens are righteous & humble (5:3, 10, 20)

  5. Living a Heavenly Life on Earth Heavenly Fellowship • We are fellow citizens with the saints (Ephesians 2:19) • We are together in the heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6)

  6. Living a Heavenly Life on Earth Heavenly Worship • God is worshiped in heaven (Rev. 4 & 5) • We are in His presence when we worship (Psalms 140:13; 52:8-9)
