Welcome to Dual Credit! MISD & Midland College
What is dual credit? • Dual Credit is college courses taken by a high school student for which the student earns both college and high school credit at the same time. • All academic courses are taught at the high school campus during school hours. • All academic dual–credit courses are fully transferable to public colleges and universities throughout Texas.

Admission Requirements There are four steps in taking academic dual-credit classes: • ADMISSION • TESTING • ENROLLMENT • PAYMENT
Step one: Admissions Application • Student must complete online Apply Texas Application through: (www.applytexas.org)
Step two: TSI Testing On high school campus test date is: February 24, 2016 Students may also test at Midland College M-F 8:00-5:00 – Tuesday 8:00-6:00 Testing Coordinator: Craig Balch cbalch@midland.edu 432-685-4504
TSI testing Requirements • Complete the pre-assessment activity at: www.midland.edu/pre-assessment • Pay $29.00 fee to MC Cashier's Office • Keep receipt for testing date • Remember to bring SSN number for testing.
TESTING EXEMPTIONS • ACT- Composite score of 23 with a minimum of 19 on the English test and/or the mathematics test shall be exempt for those corresponding sections. • SAT- A combined critical reading and a mathematics score of 1070 with a minimum of 500 on the critical reading test and/or the mathematics test shall be exempt for those corresponding sections.
Step Three Enrollment • Complete the Parent/Student Agreement form and submit it to: • Rachel Suit: Midland LEE High School • Sheena Ross: Midland High School • Becky Gonzalez: Academic Advisor for both schools. • Enroll/Register Online at: https://gomc.midland.edu/ics using Campus Connect – Using your MC ID number and PIN to enroll online. • Or, with Rachel Suit or Sheena Ross at MC, Becky Gonzalez MHS/LHS
Step Four: Pay • Online payment: Log on to Campus Connect. • Pay in person at the Scharbauer Student Center. • Payment Plans and Scholarships are available.
Important Information to remember • Withdrawal reminder: • Students who withdraw from their dual credit class(es) at LHS or MHS, must also withdraw from their MC class(es). • Upon this decision, students must notify their high school counselor and have the course withdrawal form signed.
Important information cont’d • Second semester registration: Students are required to register and pay for the spring/second semester dual credit class(es). We will offer dates in December to assist students with registration.
