An Eastern Cottontail Rabbit is a mammal. It has soft brownish fur and it is cute! It weighs 2-4 pounds and it is 13-16 inches long.
It lives in abandoned fields and brushy areas all over Ohio. Rabbits eat bark, grass, leaves, trees, vegetables and fruits. They are herbivores.
Coyotes, hawks, foxes, owls, bobcats, dogs and cats all eat rabbits. They can live 3-5 years in the wild and up to 10 years as a pet. Babies are born alive and are called kits and bunnies.
Rabbits hop high in the air and run away to protect themselves.
