Active sentence that will enter the machine… TRANSLATION: The boys threw the ball very quickly.
When the sentence enters the Machine, what is it thinking? • The subject=Pueri, pl., m., nom. will become the abl. of agent • The verb=iecerunt, perfect tense, 3rd person, pl. will become perfect passive • The direct object=pilam, sing., f., acc. will become the subject • Words that will stay the same= celerrimē WARNING! The new verb must agree with the new subject!
Which of these will help form the passive of iecerunt? NOTE: Remember to use the 4th principal part and have the verb agree with the new subject!!!
Note that… • The perfect passive, pluperfect passive, and future perfect passive are two words! • The present, imperfect, and future passives are one word and the endings go as follows Present: r ris tur mur mini ntur Imperfect bar baris batur bamur bamini bantur Future: bor beris bitur bimur bimini buntur
