Instructions for Researcher Make sure Ss have enough paper to write down words for each list. Make sure to have a timer. You will need to click the mouse to start the list presentation after showing “List x”. You will need to click the mouse to show “Recall!” Use a timer – allow 3 min for recall. There are 7 lists of 15 words each.

Please write the last few items first then recall the rest of the list in any order. Try not to guess. You will be given 3 min to recall as many words as possible. When everyone is ready I will start the presentation of each list.

Second, we will score your recognition test • Using answer page, circle blue answers • Using answer page, star red answers • Of the blue/circled items: count # of 2s, 1s, and 0s (each out of 14) • Of the red/starred items: count # of 2s, 1s, and 0s (each out of 7) • Of the black items: count # of 2s, 1s, and 0s (each out of 21) • Enter above totals into matrix:
TestAnswers: 0 = new; 2 = old; Red= “Lure” • Mad = 2 • House = 0 • Fruit = 0 • Above = 0 • Horn = 2 • Sleep = 0 • Doctor = 0 • Sour = 2 • Gravel = 0 • Grief = 0 • Butter = 2 • Rhythm = 2 • Rough = 0 • Wood = 2 • Cold = 0 • Heat = 2 • Apple = 0 • Shoe = 0 • Bread = 0 • Jagged = 0 • Window = 0 • Angry = 0 • Blanket = 2 • Black = 0 Ill = 0 Taste = 2 Foot = 0 Sweet = 0 Frost = 2 Pear = 0 Elevate = 0 Wrath = 2 Chair = 0 High = 0 Bed = 2 Cure = 0 Bench = 2 White = 0 Door = 0 Music = 0 Flour = 2 Ankle = 0

Results to enter into Excel Recall (part 1) results: # correct = _____ # incorrect = _____ # lures = ______ Recognition (part 2) results: Enter # of each answer (2, 1, or 0) for each color (item type)
For the Researcher: Analyses • Recall • # correct/105 = % correct • # lures/7 = % false memory • # lures/# incorrect • Recognition • For blue (old): # 2s/14 = % correct id as old word • For red (lure): # 2s/7 = % false memory • For black (new): # 2s/21 = % incorrect id as old word • Data analyses • Students enter 12 data points into excel • Do above calculations to get %s • Calculate averages and SDs for new % columns • Give students data – they produce graph for lab
