CNA/HHA Classes • Creating CNA and HHA noncredit courses - Vocational Education 82CE and 83CE - 82 CE Prerequisite for 83CE • Certificate of Completion for 82CE and 83CE • Certificate Title: Certified Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide Description: At the successful completion of the program, students will gain technical terminology and principles concerning healthcare delivery practices. By providing them with this solid background, students can transition into employment as healthcare providers in medical centers or private homes. In addition, they can enroll in prerequisite courses in the nursing discipline. • Class schedule: Winter ESS, Spring CNA, Summer HHA, Zero limit
CNA Course Outline Vocational Education 82CE Certified Nurse Assistant Course Description This course is designed to prepare students for the California State Certified Nursing Assistant Examination. Topics covered include patient rights, communication and interpersonal skills, safe environment, body mechanics, principles of asepsis, weights and measures, resident care skills and procedures, vital signs, nutrition, emergency procedures, long term care resident, rehabilitative/restorative care, observation and charting, and death and dying.
HHA Course Outline Vocational Education 83CE Home Health Aide Course DescriptionThis course is designed to prepare students for the California State Certified Home Health Aide License. The program prepares students to appropriately take care of clients in the clients' home. Topics address issues with home safety, nutrition in the home, and working with home health agencies.
Employment and Career Ladder Opportunities • Employment: Healthcare partners agree to recruit, train and place students. Students obtain employment at hospitals, clinics, medical offices, and long-term care facilities. • Career Ladder Opportunities: Many students integrate education and work, which enable them to move toward higher levels of skills, responsibility and wages. The average CNA wage is $22,942. Students who further their training substantially increase their wages: Respiratory Therapist, $52,593 and Registered Nurse, $66,310. • Integrating Credit/Noncredit: To achieve associate degrees, students complete Respiratory Therapy, which leads to respiratory care practitioner, working in adult intensive care and emergency and trauma care. Qualified students are encouraged to complete major requirements for Associate of Science Degree in Registered Nursing.
