  1. The cheyenne Tribe By Hunter Alexander

  2. The Cheyenne Tribe • The Cheyenne were a very skilled hunting tribe. They used bow and arrows and horses. They hunted buffalo, deer, and elk with their hunting skills. The horses changed their way of hunting and life.

  3. The Cheyenne Tribe The Cheyenne, and most of the Great Plains Indians, had a ceremony called the Sundance. In the Sundance they wore buffalo hats and blew arrows that sounded like whistles. The Cheyenne believed if they treated the buffalo hats and arrows nicely they would have plenty to eat, a long life and good health.

  4. The Cheyenne Tribe • The Cheyenne Tribe fought in the battle of the Little Big Horn. The battle was the most famous battle in the Indian Wars and was an important victory for Northern Cheyenne.

  5. The Cheyenne Tribe • After the Battle of the Little Bighorn, the U.S. Army tried to capture and force the Cheyenne to move and give up their land. • Some Cheyenne were moved to Oklahoma. But the Northern Cheyenne were not used to the hot weather and soon many became ill. In 1878, Chiefs, Little Wolf and Morning Star (Dull Knife) helped almost 350 Cheyenne go back north.

  6. The Cheyenne Tribe • Because of their determination and hard work, the Northern Cheyenne had earned their right to remain in the north near the Black Hills. • In 1884, the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation was made in southeast Montana.
