Phlebotomy – Patient views Sue Oakman 19th December 2013
Overview • Current provision • Case for change • Early thoughts so far • What do you think?
Case for change • MIIU procured without phlebotomy • Temporary solution until Oct 2014 with Noviche • Not all GP Practices offer this service to patients • Opportunity for CCG to support the delivery of the 3 strategic priorities
Early thoughts so far • Standardise range of services offered by GP Practices in CCG – include phlebotomy • Develop local Borderline and Peterborough solutions • Each practice to deliver phlebotomy for own patients • Cluster model – larger practices provide services to own and other patients on behalf of another surgery • Employ roving phlebotomist and base within primary care • Offer Phlebotomy out to Pharmacies or other providers (Any qualified Provider) • Tender the service via open procurement
What are your thoughts? • What is important to you? • How highly do you rate - • Short waiting times? • Flexible operating times • Easy access? • Close to home? • Travelling/parking costs? • Expertise of staff • Cleanliness of facilities
