Internet2 History in a Nutshell • “Born” in 1996 by UCAID • 34 original participants, Penn was a founding member • Today a consortium led by over 200 US universities which is recreating the partnership among academia, industry and government that fostered today’s Internet in its infancy • Mission = Develop and deploy advanced network applications and technologies, accelerating the creation of tomorrow’s Internet
