Image Media Types • Picture files can be stored as a variety of file types • Each file type has a different format and recommended use • Format specifies how the information in the file is organized internally • JPG and PNG are graphic file formats commonly used on Web pages • BMP and TIF are file formats used in documents • JPEG and PNG formats are compressed formats, which means the file size is smaller and transfers over the Internet easier
