  26. What if I change my mind? ● Career choices change. • Don’t panic. • Meet with MSS faculty or staff. • Get a new advisor. • Reschedule in system or in drop/add or with staff assistance depending on when it happens.

  27. A Few Special Concerns • Visiting Electives at LCME Schools • International or non-LCME Visiting Electives • Research Electives

  28. Visiting Electives ●Discuss them with your Advisor. • In some fields they are “necessary.” ● In General – reasons for doing them. • Letters Of Recommendation. • You “audition” for a match in that program. • You giving that program an “audition.”

Visiting Electives - HOW ● For now, just “reserve” the time ● For LCME Schools – ● 64 will be using VSAS (AAMC) http://www.aamc.org/programs/vsas/start.htm ● All others will use their own system. Check their web sites. ●Keep the Campus Scheduling Contact in the loop. (Lacy Gilliland, Mary Kay Hannah, Paula Clawson) ●You are responsible to obtain a grade report sheet from the place you visit.

Research Electives ●Must be listed on Advisor Approval Form.● Contact a preceptor.● Preceptor must contact the Department Chair who then e-mails approval to scheduler@uab.edu including the preceptor’s name, project title, and dates. ●Course details are entered manually by scheduler after receiving approval.
