  1. Learning for Sustainability… …is learning to live within the environmental limits of our planet and to build a just, equitable and peaceful society. It is essential for the wellbeing of all and is an international priority. It is concerned with every level and type of learning and the provision of quality education for all. UNESCO, 2013.

  2. Learning for Sustainability Scotland (LfS Scotland) is Scotland’s UN Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development; headquartered within the University of Edinburgh. LfSS is an open network where members and partners come together to work on collaborative projects, research and advocacy that push forward Learning for Sustainability practice and policy in Scotland. LfS Scotland’s purpose is to harness the full potential of learning to create a flourishing, sustainable world.

Identifying and sharing existing knowledge, expertise and lessons learned between Scotland’s educators, institutions and communitiesActively generating new knowledge and approaches to Learning for Sustainability through cooperative partnerships, projects, initiatives and researchMonitoring, evaluating, and gap analysis of progress on Learning for Sustainability in ScotlandProviding advice on LfS to practitioners, policy and decision-makersSharing our learning internationally and providing a mechanism for members to learn from others around the world as part of the RCE Network
