Types of Referrals • Mental health concerns • Medical – hospitalization, chronic conditions, long-term or emergencies • Academic Concerns • Death of a family member or student • Transitional Concerns • Unexpected events or challenges • Financial Concerns • Unclassifiable/not enough info/assault/legal issues/conduct • Natural Disasters – fire, tornado, displacement • Off campus living concerns
Assessment: The Students • Academic Progress Data • Not attending, midterm, GPA, persistence, dismissal, withdrawals • Mapworks Data • Risk indicator • Top concerns of EIT students (lower peer connections, not attending classes, text anxiety) • Nature of Concerns • Top three: Mental health concerns (174), Medical (125), Academic Concerns (99)
Assessment: Team Members & Campus Partners • Outcomes • Growth of the team to ensure we have representation from departments • Informs campus programs in understanding certain subpopulations of students with unique concerns or challenges • Addition of retention specialist in International Students and Scholars Services • Addition of an emotional/mental health question on Mapworks
