The Digital North Denmark • The Digital North Denmark is a set of 89 regional IT project, which is to run over 3 years (2001 - 2003). • The funding is more than DKK 500 mill. 1/3 granted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. • The objective is to explore the potentials of the network society for all citizens of North Denmark. • One of the major themes is IT Infrastructure • with 4 projects
Nordjysk Netforum One of the major projects is Nordjysk Netforum The main objectives of Nordjysk Netforum is a long-term strategy and development plan for the North Denmark Regional IT Infrastructure. The intention is at the same time to let Nordjysk Netforum act as centre of competence in the field of IT infrastructure
FTTH One of the main conclusions is, that FTTH has to be established within the next 10 year, in order to meet the demand for next generation services. Special emphasise has to be invested in planning methods in order to implement a new fibre based infrastructure covering all citizens in an economical realistic scale and to ensure that the future needs for QoS is supported.

Infrastructure, in the future, New Demands • Structural QoS (SQoS) • The reliability issue is addressed from a structural viewpoint, with a new concept: • SQoS is defined in order to support reliability modelling in communication infrastructures with a graph theoretical approach to support reliability management in complex communication infrastructures.
Infrastructure • SQoS The goal is to reach a point were a set of SQoS parameters, reflecting the properties of the underlying infrastructure, is part of the total set of negotiable QoS parameters. It should act as the base for service provisioning on a global scale for the highly dependable applications, end-to-end from the NAN/PAN/LAN environment across the MANs and WANs. The time has come, where this scenario should play a central role in the global IP worldwide evolution and bring us out of the unsatisfactory dark “best effort” age, into a position where the guarantied quality opens an endless world of new promising applications, unthinkable in the present situation.
