  1. The Criteria of a Disciple Luke 6:46-49

  2. "I have so many things to work on, and so many ways that I fail. But that's what grace is all about. And I constantly wake up every morning trying to get better, trying to improve, trying to walk closer to God." Tim Tebow, 2 time Heisman Trophy winner and NFL Quarterback

  3. "Golf is just an avenue for Jesus to use me to reach as many people as I can." Bubba Watson, 2012 Master’s Golf Champion

  4. "When other people see me play basketball ... the way I treat my teammates, the opponents, the refs--that's all a reflection of God's image and God's love. So that's the stuff I try to focus on." Jeremy Lin, NBA Basketball phenom now playing with the Houston Rockets

  5. "I would say the thing [Tim Tebow and I] have most in common is the thing that's most important to us, and that's our faith and our relationship with Christ, and everything flows through that. It's an honor to be mentioned in the same sentence. I'm very grateful." Collin Klein, Heisman Trophy nominee and Kansas State Quarterback.

  6. "I am so grateful God has truly blessed me! Remember to always give Him the glory for He is great! ... I give all the glory to God. It's kind of a win-win situation. The glory goes up to Him, and the blessing falls down on me." Gabby Douglas, Olympic gold medal gymnast

  7. The Criteria of a Disciple Luke 6:46-49

  8. 46 “Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the things I say? 47 I will show you what someone is like who comes to Me, hears My words, and acts on them: Luke 6:46-47

  9. 48 He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the river crashed against that house and couldn’t shake it, because it was well built. Luke 6:48

  10. 49 But the one who hears and does not act is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The river crashed against it, and immediately it collapsed. And the destruction of that house was great!” Luke 6:49

  11. The Criteria Defined (vs. 46-47) • A disciple comes to Jesus. • A disciple hears His words. • A disciple acts on His words

  12. The Proper Foundation (v. 48) • The disciple believes in the Rock. • The disciple does what he must to get to the Rock. “He dug deep." • The disciple builds on the Rock.

  13. False discipleship brings about destruction (v. 49) • In contrast to the one who comes, listens, and obeys is the person who listens and doesn't obey. • As character is revealed by fruit (6:43-45), so faith is revealed by storms. • A person is cheating himself to profess and not obey.

  14. Evaluate the foundation of your life • Church membership • Finances • Other resources • Time • Talents
