Each agency has a group of employees that report to a supervisor in some fashion. In turn, this supervisor reports to the next level of management up the chain until you get to the agency head. Time Entry Locations (TELS)
Identify Necessary Roles CPO, APPROVER, REVIEWER, TEA AND TET What are they? What can they do? Do I have to use them all? Can someone have more than one role?
What they are: CPO (Central Payroll Officer) What they can do: Enter time for themselves Create Time Sheets for all employee’s Correct Time Sheets for all employee’s Disapprove Time Sheets for all employee’s Approve Time Sheets for all employee’s Review Time Sheets for all employee’s Maintain the agency and the employees Process payroll Add notices Act on any other person’s behalf
What they are: Approver What they can do: Enter time for themselves Create employee’s Time Sheets in designated TEL’s Correct Time Sheets in designated TEL’s Disapprove Time Sheets in designated TEL’s Approve Time Sheets in designated TEL’s
What they are: TET (Time Entry Technician) What they can do: Enter time for themselves Create employee’s Time Sheets in designated TEL’s Correct Time Sheets in designated TEL’s Disapprove Time Sheets in designated TEL’s Approve Time Sheets in designated TEL’s
What they are: TEA (Time Entry Assistant) What they can do: Enter time for themselves Can create time sheets on behalf of other employees in designated TEL's.
What they are: Reviewer What they can do: Review Time Sheets for employee’s of designated TEL’s Can only review the time sheets, they have no edit capabilities. Cannot approve time sheets. They can disapprove time sheets and return them to the employee for correction, or route them to an Approver.
CPO, APPROVER,REVIEWER, TEA AND TET Do I have to use them all? Can someone have more than one role? No!, you must have a CPO and employees. Typical agencies also use Approvers. You must choose one role for an employee, there are, however, 2 combination roles: TEA / Reviewer Approver / Reviewer

Put it all together. TEL names are limited to 25 characters and can’t have any special characters. Build your Structure, adding and removing TEL’S and levels where you need them and listing each person in each roll where they belong. An employee at this level Becomes An approver at this level
