Misplaced Adjectives: • Misplaced adjectives are incorrectly separated from the nouns they modify and almost always distort the intended meaning. Ex: • On her way home, Karla found a blasé man’s watch. • Lets find the secret person rendezvous point.
Placements of Adverbs: • Placements of adverbs can also change meaning in sentences. Ex: • Just Emille was chosen for her adroitness in controlling riots. • Alejandro just hosted a party for the naive students in school.
Misplaced Phrases: • Misplaced phrases may cause a sentence to sound awkward and may create a meaning that does not make sense. Ex: • The nonchalant dealer sold the Smart car to Luigi with leather seats. • The three writers discussed about different clichés used in bad reviews in the corner smoking pipes.
Misplaced Clauses: • Misplaced clauses may cause a sentence to sound awkward and may create a meaning that does not make sense. Ex: • The gauche waiter served a dinner roll to the women that was well buttered. • On Monday the Teacher will give back our essays on a person we think is a(n) entrepreneur.
Exercises: • Sebastian’s forte was going to play soccer. • The chef gave the clientele a bowl of cold cereal for breakfast this morning.
