  2. What is Process Technology? • Process Technology is defined as the study and application of the equipment, technology, and scientific principles associated with the safe operation and maintenance of the chemical processing industry CPI.

  5. Process Technicians • Operate Complex Systems and Processes • Start/Stop Equipment • Collect Samples and Data • Troubleshoot Process Problems • Produce all of the Raw materials and Products that make us a modern society.

  6. What is Required? • 1 year State Approved Certificate • 2 year AAS degree (61% require) • Ten years ago only a high school diploma was needed

  7. Salary & Benefits • Start @ $22 per hour X 2080 hrs = $45,760 - plus 25% overtime = $33 per hour X 520 = $17,160 - TOTAL = $62,920

  8. Salary & Benefits • Top out at $36 per hour X 2080 hrs = $74880 - plus 25% overtime = $54 per hour X 520 = $28080 - TOTAL = $102,960

  9. Salary & Benefits • The Company will match 6-8% and employee can put in as much as 24%. • This includes stock options • The company also has a Lump Sum Distribution. Average last three years of service and pay for rest of life. • Good Medical & Dental & Life Insurance Policy

  14. Why is Physics Important? • Process Technicians control the following variables: - Pressure - Temperature - Level - Flow - Analytical

  15. Why is Physics Important? • Process Technicians must understand the chemistry and physics associated with the systems they operate.

Training for Physics Teachers • Review advanced technology being used in the CPI - computer console operation DCS - variables being monitored and controlled - instrumentation and electronics - equipment & technology - use of simulations in instruction - see what is applicable for the student • Job Shadowing
