  2. -Remember that infinitive forms in Spanish end in –ar,-er, -ir -The largest group of verbs is the –ar category Ex.: hablar, cantar, trabajar, pasar -In Spanish, to conjugate a verb means to change it to match the subject (doing an action) Ex. In English – to speak I speak we speak you speak you(all) speak he/she/it speaks they speak Notice-- not much changes

  3. In Spanish, the forms have a lot more changes to undergo: Ex.:habl ar yo hablo tύhablas él ellahabla Ud. nosotros hablamos vosotros habláis ellos ellas hablan Uds.

  4. Practice conjugating these verbs: cantar trabajar estudiar tú trabajo trabajas trabaja trabajamos trabajáis trabajan canto cantas canta cantamos cantáis cantan estudio estudias estudia estudiamos estudiáis estudian yo él/ella/Ud nosotros vosotros ellos/ellas Uds

  5. Examples of verbs in action.... =) ¿Hablas español? (Sí) Sí,(yo) hablo español. ¿Cantas bien? (Sí) Sí, (yo) canto bien. ¿Habla Felipe inglés? (No) No, (él) no habla inglés. Roberto y María, ¿estudiáis mucho? (Sí) (talking to vosotros....if we were talking to „ya‘ll in South America, the verb would‘ve been estudian...) Sí, (nosotros) estudiamos mucho. ¿Trabajas en un restaurante? (No) No, no trabajo en un restaurante.

  7. In Spanish, the verb endings are so unique, they indicate who the speaker is- this is why the subject (yo, tύ) is frequently left out. Present tense can also be translated into 3 ways in English: I speak Spanish Habloespañol I am speaking Sp. I do speak Spanish
