Tuesday, September 30, 2014. The VEX Robotics Club exhibit won a second place ribbon at the Baldwin County Fair . Alisa Fagan and Jonathan Nguyen did an awesome job of demonstrating our robots at the fair. They also gave robot driving lessons to fairgoers.

The VEX Robotics Club exhibit won a second place ribbon at the Baldwin County Fair. Alisa Fagan and Jonathan Nguyen did an awesome job of demonstrating our robots at the fair. They also gave robot driving lessons to fairgoers. This new club will hold its first meeting, next Wed., Oct. 8, immediately after school in room 905. Membership in the VEX Robotics Club is open to all students.
Membership dues are $5. The meeting will cover the next robot demonstrations, this year's VEX competition, and membership in Technology Student Association which is open to all students enrolled in an engineering or technology course. If you are interested in joining either of the clubs, please attend the meeting on Wednesday, October 8, immediately after school, in room 905.
Attention FBLA students, there will be a mandatory meeting in Ms. Porter’s room 307 Wednesday immediately after school. Please plan to attend and bring your dues of $25 if you have not paid already. Discussion of the club’s two field trips coming up in November and December will take place.
There will be an Interact meeting Wednesday after school in Mrs. Styron’s room.
There will be an important Foley Theatre Company meeting immediately after school on Friday in Ms. Andersen's room. Please make plans to attend!
Softball tryouts are coming soon! Tryouts will be held October 22-24. If you are interested in being a part of this year’s team, see Coach Bridges.
Attention AP seniors: There will be a meeting on Thursday for you and your parents in the cafeteria beginning at 6 pm. Topics covered will be how to apply for college, get info on FAFSA, and many other college issues. Plan to attend this important informational meeting.
The PSAT will be given here on campus Wednesday, October 15 at 8 am. Sophomores and juniors are encouraged to see Mrs. Lores to register. The cost is $15.
Seniors: There are MANY scholarships open right now! Here is a list that is available now and you can always check out the scholarship box by the 900 Hall conference room. 1. Alabama Municipal Electric Authority (AMEA- Riviera Utilities) is a $2500 scholarship. The deadline to apply is February 2, 2015. Applications are in the scholarship box or available at www.amea.com
2. The Smith Last Dollar Scholarshipis up to $15,000 per year and is renewable for four years! The deadline to apply is January 15, 2015. You must apply at www.smithscholarships.com Check out the scholarship box for more directions on how to apply online.
3. VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship- The 1st Place winner will receive a $30,000 scholarship. Deadline to enter is November 1, 2014. Visit www.vfw.org/VOD for more information.
4. National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) Scholarship- The amounts vary and the deadline to apply is December 1. Visit the website below. Mr. Wilson can also answer any questions about this one. www.nwtf.org/jakes/scholarship.html to apply.
5. The J.L. Bedsole Foundation Scholars Program- Scholarship amounts vary between $1,000-$6,000 annually. The deadline to apply is November 28, 2014. Visit www.jlbedsolefoundation.org to apply. You can pick up more information from the scholarship box.
