Scouting Scouting (or the Scout Movement) has the stated aim of supporting young people in their physical, mental and spiritual development, that they may play constructive roles in society. Scouting began in 1907 when Baden Powell, a lieutenant general in the British Army, held the first experimental camp at Brown Sea Island in England. In 1910, a new organization, Girl Guides, was created for girls. The movement employs the Scout Method , a program of informal education with an emphasis on practical outdoor activities, including camping, woodcraft, aquatics, hiking, backpacking, and sports. Distinctive uniform insignia include the fleur-de-lis and the trefoil, as well as badges and other patches. In 2011, Scouting and Guiding together had over 41 million members worldwide. Scouting and Guiding in India The Bharat Scouts and Guides (भारतस्काउट्सएवंगाइड्स) is the national Scouting and Guiding association of India. The BSG serves 2,886,460 Scouts (2011)and 1,286,161 Guides (2005). Scouting started in India in the year 1909, when Captain T.H.Baker established the first Scout Troop in Bangalore and got it registered with imperial Headquarters, London. subsequently, These units were open to European and Anglo Indian Children only. The first Guide Company in India was started in Jabalpur, Central India in 1911. Nationalist leaders of India decided to offer Scouting activities to Indian Boys and SewaSamiti Scout Association was formed with HQs in Allahabad by some leaders (e.g. Dr. Annie Beasant started a separate Scout Association for Indian Boys in Madras.
Scouting In Independent India After the independence of our country efforts were made for unification of the Scout and Guide Associations functioning in India. Serious efforts were made by our National leaders like Pt.JawaharLal Nehru, First Prime Minister of India, MaulandAbulKalam Azad, the First education Minister of India,ShriMangal Das Pakvasa, Governor of Central Province, and Scout leaders PanditHridayNathKunzru, Pandit Sri Ram Bajpai, Justice Vivian Bose and others for the merger of the Scout / Guide Associations. The Final merger took place on 7th November 1950 and the unified Organisation came into existence under the Name “The Bharat Scouts and Guides”. The Girl Guides Association formally joined the Bharat Scouts and Guides a littlelater on 15th August 1951.
Our Fundamentals Definition:-The Bharat Scouts & Guides is a voluntary, non-political, educational movement for young people, open to all without distinction of origin, race or creed ,in accordance with the purpose, principles and methods conceived by the Founder Lord Baden Powell in 1907. Purpose: The purpose of the Movement is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of local, national and international communities. Principles: The Scout /Guide Movement is based on their Law and Promise

Odisha And Scouting Scouting came to Odisha in 1937. It spreaded in the heart of odia people and beacme a organisation Named The Orissa State Bharat Scouts and Guides. Its HQs is Located in The temple city Bhubaneshwar, Unit-III. Its has a ell equipped store and a sales counter. It has a Scout Bhavan of size 235` × 39` locted in the eastern side Of the complex. Having Jamboree Hall, Conference Hall, Cooking Centre, Guest House, Self Employment Cell, Sanitation Block, Administrative Building, Library, Co-Operative Bank, Stage, Gallery, Training Complex, Smurtipitha and The State Training Centre.
Conclusion Scouting and Guiding is a worldwide youth movement composed of many organizations. Its aim is to develop young people physically, spiritually and mentally so that youth may take a constructive place in society. The mission of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society. So, I will Request All the Youth of this world may be of any country to join this world wide movement of scouting and guiding. Anyone from any caste creed sex religion can join scouting and guiding.
