American Planning Association – San Diego Section • APA - A national organization of people who are active in working together for better-planned communities. • APA brings together: • The professional planner and the citizen member of a planning board or commission. • The transportation planner, environmental planner, housing planner, land use attorney, and others who see their roles as part of comprehensive planning. • The elected official and the member of a community planning group. • The planning practitioner, the student, and the teacher.

Membership Prices - Students • National Dues $45/year • Chapter Dues $15/year Total $60/year that can be paid in monthly installments of $5/month • Students who join now will have the student rate for 3 years, even if they are no longer a student. • After 3 years, students can transition to a discounted “New Professional” rate for 2 years (only available to those who previously joined at the student rate). 5 years at a discounted membership by joining as a student!

Young Planners Group YPG Chair: Natalia Clark Hentschel History: • Ideas of Young Planners Group (YPG) initiated in 2008 • Sacramento Chapter YPG formed in early 2009, with a “Guide to Young Planners Groups” • SDAPA YPG was formed in Fall 2009 Success Stories: • Meet the Board Mixer in February 2010 resulted in 3 new Board positions, all YPG participants • SDAPA Mentoring Program rollout was initiated Fall 2011 • Several YPG’ers have found jobs through the YPG and SDAPA networking opportunities

Mentorship & Education Program Foster an exchange of professional expertise and innovative planning practice in an effort to enhance both personal and professional skills while creating mutually beneficial relationships and friendships between students, young planning professionals and experienced planning professionals in the industry.
