2. Excellent Expository • Expository is meant to inform,clarify,explain, or define. There are two different types of expository writing. They are the “How-To” and the Explanatory. Some examples are: instructions, news articles, and directions.

3. Expository Checklist • Research your topic enough to have enough information. • Support your ideas with details. • Answer questions readers might be asking themselves. • Teach the readers something new about the subject. • Explain unusual words, phrases, or ideas. • Put a brief history about your topic to make the writing exciting.

4. A well written expository paragraph has:- a topic sentence- supporting details - closing sentence

5. The topic sentence contains the central idea around which a paragraph is developed. It should be in the beginning of a paragraph. It is what the paragraph is mainly about. The details go in the middle of the paragraph and support the topic sentence. The closing sentence ties all of the ideas in a paragraph together. A personal opinion makes a good closing sentence.

6. Example Fall is my favorite time of year. The fall air is crisp and cool. Pumpkins decorate doorsteps up and down my street. The smell of fallen leaves fills the air.
