Objectives of try-in Objectives: 1) Identification and correction of any errors before the dentures are finished. 2) allowing the dentist to check all previous recordings 3) permits the patient to assess the appearance of the dentures. Prosthodontic treatment for edentulous patient- Blackwell
Extra oral evaluation • Checking the cast on theArticulator • Mounting Rings • Incisal pin • Trial denture base lie properly on the casts and the teeth are in good intercaspation. • Correct Sagital and lateral Condylar angles • In centric position, the joints must be firm and not loose. • Move smoothly from centric to eccentric with no interferences
Extra oral evaluation • Checking the Casts • Good shape • Free from air bubbles • Free from scratches • Undercuts should be reliefed • Free from wax particles
Extra oral evaluation • Checking Teeth • Proper selection( esthetic) • Proper positioning
Extra oral evaluation • Shape of polished denture surface • Duplicate appearance of normal gingiva • Concave surfaces between marginal gingiva &denture borders for maximum retention Concave

Trying in Lower denture • Extension (buccal, labial, lingual, posterior extension, underextension) • Retention • Stability • Height of the occlusal plane • Tongue space
Try in Both dentures together • Anteroposterior relation • Vertical height • Evenness of occlusal pressure • Balanced occlusion • Apperance • Central line • Anterior plane • Shape of the teeth • Profile • Amount of teeth visible • Regularity of the teeth

Phonetic test • Causes of Speech defect in complete denture: • Poor fit • Improper arrangement of teeth • High vertical dimension • Reduced tongue space • Phonetic Test: • (F, V, PH) Labio-dental sounds determining proper tooth position. • Letter (S) determining relationship of upper & lower anterior teeth NB. If maxillary anterior teeth are placed Too far labially patient whistlling ( S ) become (ch)
