Vocabulary • Trait – a quality or characteristic of a living thing. • Inherited trait – traits a living thing gets from its parents. • Behavior – ways of acting. • Learned trait – a behavior that humans or other animals learn from their parents or in some other way. • Acquired trait – any trait that a living thing gets during its life. • Acquire means to get it

Sorting Activity • Draw a line vertically in the middle of your paper. Write Learned behaviors on one side and inherited traits on the other side. Categorize the cards into the correct column to describe each trait and/or behavior.
