  15. Recap • The Pittsburgh Pirates ended their 21 year playoff draught in dramatic fashion. Russell Martin hit two homeruns, Francisco Liriano dominated for seven strong innings and the Pirates defeated the Cincinnati Reds for a 6-2 victory in the National League wild-card game Tuesday night. In front of a crowd that was wearing all black and waving black towels, Marlon Byrd also homered and Andrew McCutchen added two hits and reached base a total of four times for the pirates.
