In the Experiential Learning Center, Lutheran youth collected and assembled: • 323,000 meals for Feeding Children Everywhere • 1,500 personal care kits for area shelters and community organizations • 1,140 school supplies kits for local students in need • 1,006 units of blood for Texas hospitals • 500 thank-you cards for members of the military • 250 fleece blankets for shelters around the country • 64 haircuts for Locks of Love
SERVICE “I learned that when we work together we can feed thousands.” “I found out how easy it is to help people in need.” “It showed me how God really works through us to help others.”
WORKSHOPS How To Be Awesome…and Other Pointless Pursuits” “I learned that faking your online identity is hiding the real you.”“The constant upkeep of your “brand” keeps you from connecting with God. If you want true peace you need to embrace your identity as a saved sinner.”
WORKSHOPS (CONT’) “Burn Down Your Faith” “This workshop gave me a new perspective on my faith. It made me ask myself if it was solely based on wanting to know Jesus more, or if it was just fear.” “It inspired me to understand why I believe what I believe.”
WORKSHOPS (CONT’) “Friendship: Going Beyond Followers” “This workshop taught me that I can be in control of my “friends”. I am free to not accept requests, not read people’s feed, un-tag myself from pictures, and find better influences.” “I don’t have to hide behind a technology blanket to talk to others.”
WORKSHOPS (CONT’) “Questions You Can’t Ask Your Mama” “In our session the speaker received more than 300 text messages from guys asking questions”. “I learned that you can’t even toy with unhealthy patterns”
THE MASS EVENT • Beachballs! • Speakers’ powerful testimonies (Jessica Stevens) - Worshiping with 25,000 other students • Feeling the excitement and unity of Pentecost being acted out • Looking up into the stadium and knowing we are not alone in our faith • Watching our sins be burnt away and being told by strangers that I am forgiven • The Jesus Painter • Communion
OTHER FAVORITE THINGS • Playing tag in the hotel • Salsa dancing • Jack “breathing fire” • Having an extremely messy dinner at Mexican Manhattan • Running into poles and benches • Riding the river boat and shouting “Heyyy!” • Singing songs late at night • Our group growing closer, and knowing each other on a whole new level
