  2. Demographics Demographics Summary- Spring Shadows Elementary serves Kindergarten-5th grade students. The campus serves a population between 811 students, with 91.7% economic disadvantaged and 58.6% English Language Learners. The campus does have a high mobility rate of 32.8%. The area homesteads include single family homes and 6 apartment complexes including the largest one-Waterford Place. Demographics Strengths- Include a predominantly community culture of responsibility for their children’s welfare and wellbeing. Parents are involved in parent classes, ESL classes and AVANCE. Families also utilize Communities in Schools for resources. Inclusively, there is large parent turn-out for meet the teacher, open house and school events. Activities including the Children’s Museum are largely attended by parents. Demographic Needs- With six apartment complexes in the vicinity and many more in the surrounding neighborhood, there is a very high mobility from Spring Shadows to other schools in the district.

Spring Shadows Elementary And Spring Branch I.S.D. believe that a great school system: Ѽ builds on the strengths and gifts of each child, Ѽ provides students from poverty the same opportunities for success after high school as students from non-poverty homes, Ѽ instills in every student the belief that they can achieve more than they think possible, and Ѽ assures that every adult in the system is committed to the successful completion of some form of higher education for every child.

  4. The Spring Branch T-2-4 Vision By 2017, SBISD will double the number of students completing a technical certificate, two year degree, four year degree or enroll in the Military.

  5. How Spring Shadows Elementary is performing in the pursuit of the SBISD vision 2013 Accountability Rating = MET STANDARD! (For 2013 state accountability, campuses are rated as Met Standard, Improvement Required or Not Rated.) State accountability ratings are based on four performance indexes: Student Achievement, Student Progress, Closing the Performance Gaps and Postsecondary Readiness.   12. At Spring Shadows Elementary, We CELEBRATE our Students’ Success! We have quarterly recognition ceremonies to highlight student talents and accomplishments for each grade level. Students are awarded the following distinctions:

  14. At Spring Shadows Elementary, We Support Our Students and Families To meet our Students’ and families’ social and emotional needs we provide:

  15. - A full time Counselor - An on site full time Program Director from Communities and Schools (CIS) -CIS offers referrals for medical and psychological services, ESL classes for adults, parenting groups with child care provided, social skills groups for students and crisis intervention.

  16. Our Community supports our Students and Families Ѽ TYCO, a local corporation, provides employees to serve as mentors for our students. The mentors meet with the students once a week. They maintain the relationship with the student from 2nd grade until the student graduates from Spring Shadows. Ѽ The “United Way Reading Together” recruits and trains volunteer readers to ensure that student “on the bubble” are reading proficiently by the time they enter fourth grade.

  18. At Spring Shadows Elementary, we support our Gifted & TalentedStudents Ѽ Kindergarten-2nd grade students identified as Gifted & Talented will receive enrichment activities once a week. They will be served by our Gifted & Talented certified librarian. Ѽ 3rd-5th students identified as Gifted & Talented will go to the Bendwood campus each Friday to receive enrichments activities taught by full time Gifted & Talented instructors. They will have the opportunity to collaborate with other gifted students from other campuses in the district.

  21. How to Enroll at Spring Shadows Ѽ Pick-up an enrollment packet at the front desk. Ѽ Documents Required: -Birth Certificate -Parent State Identification or License -Students from other countries may need to participate in a language screening to determine the appropriate class placement -Complete a Home Language Survey
