Post Pandemic Travel to Nepal Update Traveling to Nepal in 2020 & 2021: If you are going stir-crazy and can’t wait to resume traveling, you probably check CDC travel guidelines often. As we see softening of travel restrictions domestically in the US, we hope for soft re-opening of international travel. How long would it take for things to get back to normal and when can we travel to Nepal? What will be the top changes that are to be seen? As of right now (end of June 2020), CDC recommends that travelers avoid all nonessential travel to Nepal. If you do travel to Nepal, you are expected to stay home for 14 days after returning from Nepal, monitor your health, and practice social distancing.
Good news – regularly scheduled international flights should be resuming on August 1st. So, this is a good sign of things getting back to “new normal”. But what will the “new normal” be like for adventure seekers like us? Trekking to the Mountains in Nepal: Well, one of the “new normal” procedures upon arrival will include the health (temperature) check upon arrival. Most airports deal with this very efficiently without causing much delays. Once you pass the controls and acclimate, trekking in Nepal post the COVID-19 phase will be just as enjoyable as always! Travel in Small Groups: Traveling in small groups will be the preferred way to travel globally, I think. Gone are the days (for some time at least) of huge tour groups on big buses. Our small group adventure treks to Nepal are perfect for those wishing to resume active travel post- pandemic. Being in fresh air in pristine mountains with a small group of people or your own private group of family or friends will be the preferred way to travel. Our groups are typically 5-8 people and a couple of tour guides. Personal Hygiene while Trekking: You may notice new items on our packing lists - think wet-wipes, masks, tissues, sanitizers, and gloves to keep everyone safe. You will have to bring all your personal hygiene items and necessities for the whole duration of the trip. This current situation suggests that you would not want to lend items from fellow travelers as we would normally do. But tour guides will have the supplies of all sanitation items and extra masks. Testing: We will require everyone joining our next adventure trek 2020 or 2021 to do a quick COVID test before the trip to assure everyone’s safety and comfort. It is good to know that they are easily available now around the country.
So to summarize, there are a few more steps and precautions to take and we are navigating this new situation as it develops. Our travelers’ safety and well-being are our top concern and as a professional trekking company we are taking every step necessary to guide you through the current rules and regulations to finally be able to get to the mountains! As an adventure trekking tour operator, Driftwood Adventure Treks ensures that you make the most of your trek post this lockdown by keeping up with the safety rules and regulations.
