Application overview • Region 6 submitted on behalf of Westmoreland County. • Request of $130,000 for lease payments, equipment, and instructor salaries • To establish a new welding training facility to offer daytime courses through Rappahannock Community College (RCC) to train adult welders for employment at local businesses • Revised application addresses workgroup feedback from previous submission. WELDER TRAINING

Application overview • Region 8 submitted on behalf of Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC). • Request of $200,000 for training software, program coordination, and administration • To establish a cybersecurity workforce development program at BRCC through the implementation of a new self-paced, non-credit training course that will result in the CompTIA Security+ industry credential CYBERSECURITY

Application overview • Region 9 submitted on behalf of Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) • Request of $249,472 for building renovations, equipment, curriculum, and licensing fees • To establish a career pathway through PVCC and Germanna Community College (GCC) for the adult beverage manufacturing industry by launching new training programs and establishing new training facilities for wine and cider making, craft brewing, and distilling. Application overview • Region 9submitted on behalf of Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) • Request of $100,000 for faculty salaries and training, acquisition of shared equipment and software, and administration • To establish a shared cybersecurity program for Piedmont Virginia, Lord Fairfax, and Germanna Community Colleges, who will each establish a primary area of instructional expertise and seek accreditation from the National Centers for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Cyber Workforce

Innovation ecosystem studyimplementation plan • Each Regional Council designates a study coordinator • Coordinator convenes working group to include another council member and key public and private stakeholders in the region • Situational analysis and survey of each region conducted by study contractor to establish baseline (use questions from April concept paper) • National best practices (both urban and rural) are assessed • Survey responses form basis for regional stakeholder interviews by study contractor INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM

Innovation ecosystem studyimplementation plan • Interviews lead to development of region-specific implementation templates that suggest potential action items and projects each region could pursue to advance its unique startup ecosystem • Working group serves as sounding board for those templates and provides leadership on project development • Statewide agency stakeholders provide additional input • Alignment with VRIC study implementation INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM
