If your Kindle fire device becomes slow, frozen and unresponsive or begins to have frequent issues, you can fix it by just a reset. A soft reset will solve maximum issues, but if you want a more permanent solution, you can also hard reset the device to factory settings. There are some simple steps that need to be taken in order to restore your Kindle to its proper functioning.

  3. PART - 1 Preparing to Reset Your Kindle: 1. Try a simple restart before begin. Sometimes a Kindle device can get stuck in a flux between on and off. The screen might quickly freeze. Simple turn off the Kindle. Plug it into the socket so that it can charge up. Turn the Kindle back on. It is best to try first for a minor problem.

  4. 2. Choose either a soft or hard reset(factory default). Soft resets are mainly for making run faster, or resetting a Kindle frozen home screen. A hard reset will delete all data, and restore your Kindle to factory settings. This is a last resort meant for experiencing large-scale problems like Kindle frozen screens.

  5. 3. Charge up your Kindle Plug your Kindle in using the power cord. Make sure the battery bar is completely filled up. Once the battery is fully charged, remove the Kindle from charging. You will need Kindle at least forty percent battery to a hard reset.

  6. 4. Back up any crucial passwords and files You will lose all data when wipe the Kindle.Content can be re-downloaded that you purchased through Amazon. You will want to click drag everything over to special folder in your downloads section.

  7. PART - 2 Performing a Soft Reset of Your Kindle 1. Soft reset your Kindle First Generation • First, Off the power switch. Open the back cover and remove the battery. One minute wait before put the battery back. Put the back cover and turn on power switch . • To get the battery out, use your fingernails or a small pointy. Do not use scissors or a knife. • Make sure when you return the back cover of Kindle that it locks into place. You should hear a "snap" sound when it is secure.

  8. 2. Reset your Kindle Second Generation and/or later Hold the power button for 20 seconds. Slide the power switch and hold it for 20 to 30 seconds. Doing so tells your device to reboot. The reboot screen (an all black, or clear screen) should appear as soon as you release the power switch.
