Step 1 –Understand The Importance Of Age Medical Conditions And Relationship Status. Where: • A woman’s age is 35 years old or more, or • There are known medical conditions that may impact on fertility, or • You are a single woman, • a consultation with your General Practitioner (Step 4) is advised. Otherwise, Steps 2 and 3 are recommended. • Research clearly shows that the probability of conceiving and having a healthy baby decreases after 30 years of age in women and is more marked after 35 years of age.
Step 2 – Change Your Lifestyle • You can boost your chances of conceiving and having a healthy baby, either naturally or in conjunction with fertility treatment, by making sure your body is in good health. For further information, please go to our "Increasing Your Chances of A Pregnancy" page. • Dr. Rita Bakshi may be able to assist you with this step through its Wellbeing And Fitness For Fertility (“WAFF”) program.
Step 3 – Sexual Intercourse - Get The Timing Right! • The timing and frequency of sexual intercourse is critical to conception. For further information, please go to our "The Best Time To Get Pregnant" page. If: • A woman’s age is 35 years old or less, and • Steps 2 and 3 are unsuccessful, and • You have been trying to conceive for a reasonable period without success, for example 12 months,
Step 4 – General Practitioner Consultation If: • Age or a known medical condition is or may be an issue (see Step 1), or • Age or a known medical condition is not an issue and Steps 2 and 3 have proven unsuccessful, and you have been trying to conceive over a reasonable period of time, for example 12 months, with no resulting pregnancy, or • You are a single woman. • a consultation with your General Practitioner is recommended. Depending on your circumstances, he or she may run some preliminary tests and discuss lifestyle, or subsequently or alternatively, your General Practitioner may refer you directly to a fertility clinic such as Dr. Rita Bakshi (International fertility centre). In order to be eligible for Medicare rebates and safety nets, a referral from your General Practitioner is required. See our "Medicare" page for further information
Step 5. Dr. Rita Bakshi fertility Consultation • Either call +91 8447592299 and schedule an initial consultation with one of our Fertility Specialists, or alternatively, wait for a call from one of our friendly Booking Officers if your General Practitioner forwards the referral directly to Dr. Rita Bakshi . • The idea of attending a consultation at a fertility clinic can be a bit daunting for some. Although we will do our very best to help you feel comfortable it may help before your consultation to jot down any matters you would like to raise and bring these with you.During this initial consultation, your medical history and lifestyle will be comprehensively investigated. Birth control use, pregnancy history, frequency and regularity of menstrual cycles, medications used, surgical history, other health issues, your lifestyle, and your work/living environment may be investigated. Please: • Ask questions. • Take your time to think things through. There may be some complex issues to consider. • Remember that our team is there to help make the right choice for you. • For further information, please go to our "Investigation Of Fertility" page.
Step 6. Diagnosis • Once the results from the tests are received, the Fertility Specialist will have a clearer picture of what may be causing your conception difficulties. • For further information of the causes of infertility go to our "Causes Of Infertility" page.
Step 7 – Treatment Plan • Treatment planning (the process of building a tailor made treatment program based on your specific needs) at International fertility centre is a continuous process that involves the parties in a collaborative exchange of ideas about the best ways to provide treatment. Treatment planning provides a framework within which to: • Identify individual needs and potential risk factors. • Discuss recommended and preferred treatment strategies, and to consider alternatives. • Discuss the benefits and risks of the preferred treatment strategies, alternative treatments and no treatment.
The Fertility Specialist will provide you with a copy of the treatment plan where requested (or the revised plan if changes have been made) and the information discussed. This will occur as soon as possible after the plan is completed. • A Fertility Nurse will ensure that you are fully informed about your plan and how your treatment will be implemented and managed. An interpreter may be used as necessary to assist communication with patients from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. • Treatment planning is a continuous process that will involve the Dr. Rita Bakshi team and patients. Treatment plans will be regularly reviewed and revised as required.
