How would you approach a colleague that has caused some difficulty (i.e. not produced a report you urgently need) • How would you like to BE approached if you had caused problems for a colleague (i.e. did not deliver important data on time) • Let’s compare notes… …why are there differences?   5. Behaviors • Outgoing, challenges status quo, keen to get things done, resists authority, likes to take the lead • Needs • Results, recognition, challenge • Fears • Challenges to their authority, lack of results from others DISC model - direct

  6. Behaviors • Outgoing, leads by enthusing others, acts on impulse, promotes change • Needs • Change, acknowledgement, new ideas • Fears • Disapproval, stagnation, detailed work DISC model - influencing

  7. Behaviors • Reserved, works well in a team, maintains status quo, recovers from slights slowly, steady • Needs • Security, acceptance, teamwork • Fears • Isolation, unplanned challenges, standing out DISC model - stabilising

  8. Behaviors • Reserved, systematic approach, detail focused, likes to work to established guidelines & standards • Needs • High standards, appreciation, quality work • Fears • Criticism of work, imperfection, noting having things adequately explained DISC model - conscientious

  9. Why would you care about the behavioral style of yourself and others? • Different approaches to completing a task • Different responses to change • Different responses to challenges and/or being challenged • Different ways of dealing with feelings …can all lead to conflict! So what?
